Hurricane Sandy

I hope everyone is staying safe in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy! Power remains out every where south of 32nd street in Manhattan; a huge number have no power or water in Long Island; and a huge amount of destruction occurred in my home state of New Jersey.

My heart goes out to everyone who was negatively affected by the hurricane. 

For those of you who were not, I highly recommend volunteering in areas around you that were affected and, for those of you who are nowhere near the destruction, donating to the American Red Cross:

• NYCService urges would-be volunteers to email nycservice@cityhall.nyc.gov with their name, email address and borough
• Volunteers in New Jersey are being coordinated through an emergency response hotline, 1-800-JERSEY-7 (1-800-537-7397)
• You can donate $10 by phone by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999
